Presentation Tools for Students

I would like to suggest that we independently investigate the following sites recommended by the 21st Century Fluency Project.  They are a variety of tools for everything from presentations  to animations and timelines.

Over the next few days, make it your goal to thoroughly investigate and explore one or two of the recommendations and report back to the class on your findings.

Things to consider when reporting back:
Which site?
How user friendly?
What are the positives?  Negatives?
How could it be used in the learning that occurs in our classroom?

  1. I really liked Prezi

Is the most innovative one; I think most of the other sites are variations / improvements of a Microsoft Powerpoint-like presentation where there are consecutive slides. In prezi you work with "depth" and movement...very interesting !!!

  2. I decided to use the same content on all of the programs to test the functionality. So I started with prezentit and it glitched out lots of times. I tried to work on it for 15 minuites before i noticed this :
This version of PreZentit is no longer supported. We're working on a new one.
So there is no reason to use this software until the new version comes out. If you still want to check it out here is some positive features :Your presentations can be private or public. And each one has its own web address.
Download your presentations and show them even without an Internet connection.
There is no limit in the number or length of the presentations and you have 250MB to store your images.

  3. I also went on ZOHO Show, personnally I didn't feel like it was any better than power point. It only gave better movement and shapes but otherwise the animation was worse than powerpoint. I also expirienced some minor glitches while the picture uploads. The Url picture uploads worked okay but uploading from the libary was a problem. V.F.

  4. I really liked working in Goanimate it is so far different from the other programs. It has a lot of tools and characters with unique voice and huge number of props and all of them can be anuimated. It almost never glitches.Y ou can really entertain people with the animated presentation, not even presentations, but real videos. You can also record your own voice as a naration or use other voices for voice over. The only limitation I can see is that you have to pay in you want to get really great charachters or props.
I was thrilled by this tool and this is the result of my work in animated, check it out: http://goanimate.com/videos/0wp6WvI3L7o8?utm_source=linkshare&uid=0xPWU089-r8E

  5. I tried using empressr and it was okay. It was exactly like powerpoint but with cooler slide transitions. When I tried to set up an account of Internet Explorer it didnt work so it was a minor glitch. It only worked when I went off Mozzila Firefox. It is a good program for buisness because it included charts and graphs. But for the other things I thought that powerpoint is better program for school presentations because it has cooler animation. You can also share the empressr presentations online, which is a convenient feature. It is tricky when you are trying to share it, however you can figure it out. Check it out ( and do not forget to use the arrows to switch the slides)http://www.empressr.com/empressrflx/Empressr_Viewer.aspx?token=qFjj9C6sTk0=

  6. I went on xtranormal and i thought that it was good if you want to tell a stury or creat an animated story using existing characters and settings. The quality of visuals adn audios is also very good. But if you want to di anything cool on it of course you have to pay. It was really user friendly - it has a great tutotial. What I liked is that it was just like a real movie with camera angles and it also had realistic graphics. You cannot insert your own images and you have to choose one of the themes and sets there which I thought was not convinient. I didn't like how it was loading so slow and it glitched out lots of times. I couldn't publish my movie because I didnt want to buy a membership o.

  7. To summarize all my findings I liked Prezi and GOanimate the best. They are very different though. Goanimate lets you create informative yet entertaining presentations with your own images and text but with unique characters.Prezi lets you make cool 3D presentations without any characters or stuff. But the rest either give you animation that fits their own sets or give you text and images without animation and 3D effects.

  8. Oh and i forgot to say about timeline timeglider. I personnaly think it is used to sum up historical events and sequences rather than presentations. I also think that it is mostly used for wide periods of time, may be for a historical project.
