"The difficult is what takes a little time; the impossible is what takes a little longer," said Fridjof Nansen, the 1922 Nobel Peace Prize winner who personally organized the repatriation of more than four hundred thousand prisoners of war after World War I and helped save millions of Russians from starvation.
Fearless Felix(Felix Baumgartner) was the first person to skydive from a height of 39 kilometres above the ground also the first person to fall so fast he broke the sound barrier. His relation to Joseph Kittenger is that in 1960 Joseph set the record for longest skydive to be later broken by Felix. He was also the first man to make a solo crossing of the Atlantic Ocean in a gas balloon. In 2012, at the age of 84, he participated in the Red Bull Stratos project as a mission controller, directing Felix Baumgartner in his Jump.
Joseph Kittenger was the first person to jump from a giant baloon so high up. Felix was trying to break his record by going higher and his trainer was Joseph kittinger.
I am posting this comment on fearless felix. this austrian daredevil fell at around mach 1.24 . that is 1.24 times the speed of sound .That is 833 miles per hour. can you guess how fast the speed of sound
He jumped from 39 kilometres in the sky and even the slightest rip in his suit would kill him. Joe Kittenger was his mentor and was at mission control when he jumped
I saw the live free fall and felix went about 700 miles per hour but joseph went about 600 miles per hour. It was cool because felix was spinning in circles while falling!!!!!! that would beat rollercoasters by a mile!
I saw the video of Felix falling. It was so AWESOME!!!! Joe and Felix both went in a chair and floated up in a balloon. When Felix jumped off he was falling 1342 km/h and was free falling for 4 min. and 19 secs.
We found the connection between joeseph and felix is that they both went for the world record in skydiving which they both succeeded. Joe jumped from 102,800 feet while felix jumped from 128,000 feet. Felix fell 18 seconds more than Joe. Although joe was felix's mentore.
I read that the idea was to break the record set 50 years ago by retired U.S. Air Force Col. Joe Kittinger, who as a captain set the world's skydiving bar at 102,800 feet (31,333 meters) on Aug. 16, 1960. Felix Baumgartner skydived 120,000 feet.Breaking his record.
The connection to Joseph Kittenger is that he set a record for the longest and heighest free fall before Fearless Felix set the new record, for heighest freefall not longest, in New Mexico. Also Joseph Kittenger was one of the mission controllers for Felix's jump. The connection to math is that they would have to make the calculations, like how dense the suit will have to be so that the extreme speeds wont kill him, because mach 1.173km or 729mph is extremely fast but thin enough that he wont die of being to hot.
Felix set the record for the highest manned balloon flight and fastest speed of free fall 1,342 kilometres per hour (834 mph) making him the first human to break the sound barrier outside of a vehicle. Felix was in free fall for 4 minutes and 19 seconds, 17 seconds away from breaking the record that his mentor Joseph Kittinger's jump that he did in 1960.
They are also connected because they are both daredevils.
Felix Baumgartner is attempting to break Colonel Joesph Kittingers record of 52 years, freefalling 36,576 metres/120,000 feet for a rough five minutes. Leading technicians and scientists have been developing the equipment and suit for this mission for the past five years. If the mission had malfunctioned, Felix could have had his brain explode, intense blood pressure, blacked out, or died.
Joseph Kittenger is a former command pilot, career military officer and retired Colonel in the United States Air Force. He is most famous for his participation in Project Manhigh and Project Excelsior, in 1960 setting the record longest skydive, from a height greater than 31 kilometres. He directed Felix Baumgartner on his record breaking 12800 ft jump from earth stratospere. He was a very good teacher for Felix jumped from a height of 127,866 ft or 38.974 miles. He jumped going witha speed of 729mph
After doing a little more research about both people I learned of the amazing story of Fearless Felix (left) and Joseph Kittenger (right) The connection is that they both jumped from outstandiing heights and changed what people think about things. Felix who just recently jumped from the stratos in the REDBULL STRATUS Challenge broke the speed of sound in his free fall! He also broke 2 or more other records. He fell faster than the speed of sound which is 343.2 metres per second! He is the first ever human to do it. It is pretty awesome! All the engineering and math together is pretty complex just to get him up and with getting him down is just insane!
he freefalled 101,516 feet(30,942 meters)

ReplyDeleteTh econnection between the two is that they both jumped from really high. Felix fell the fastest ,but Joseph had a longer fall.

ReplyDeletei tried jumping off a ladder and it was scary although i got hurt
ReplyDeletei think i would die if i did that
congrats to joseph kitteninger

he had a rip in his right glove and somehow didn't die

fearless felix and kittinger are connected in the fact that they both made high altitude jumps
ReplyDeletethey are connected because Kittinger was the CAPCOM for Felix`s drop wich means he was the capsule communicator

ReplyDeleteso the amount of distance for felix's drop is 39 km and he was flling at 1342km/h how long would his drop time be?
ReplyDeletethey are connected because they both dropped from more than 100,000 ft

ReplyDeleteFearless Felix was cool and all but there's one thing I don't get . to travel at the speed of sound woulden't you have to have no mass at all?
ReplyDeleteI personnally think that felix and joe are very brave andà or most likely very crazy because jumping from 1200000 feet isn't very smart.
